Hi All! ELLE - Thanks! This one will do nicely Finally made it to 10 showings of GoF today - I know, I know I'm really slacking on this viewings this time, but the Muggle world just keeps interfering lately. A couple of observations: When the Beauxbatons students arrive and all the boys are goggling at them, the look on Hermionie and Ginny's faces is absolubtley PRICELESS!! ;D Also noticed a HOWLING mistake in the scene where Moody takes Harry to his office after he gets back from the graveyard - He moves around his office without using his walking staff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick hi. I 've had a nasty cold for the last several days and I'm still feeling really lethargic.
richard: good luck! Will you have access to the internet?
kitm: good point about DD's portrait. I figure there must be at least one scene where Harry visits the headmaster's office and speaks to DD's portrait and maybe he will learn a crucial pice of info that way.
about the "In esssence divided:" that seems to me to have two interpretations. When I first read OOP, I thought it meant that Harry and Voldemort were the 2 snakes and that it meant their essences - souls were completely divided despite the connection between their minds. The other possibility is that it was confirming for DD the whole horcrux theory - the two snakes represent voldemort and Nagini and Voldemort's fragmented soul.
I still think there are a couple of pieces of the puzzle we don't know: (1) why did DD have a gleam of triumph when Harry told him about LV using his blood? Was it because LV was now mortal enough to destroy? Did he then look older than ever because something about the transferrence put Harry in more danger? (2) How can Harry kill voldemort with his present wand? Or will he use some other weapon?
I don't believe that Harry will use Avada kedavra to kill LV. That would seem to put him on exactly the same level as LV. There seems to be something more to work out to distinguish the whole difference between murder, self defense killing, defense of others killing and execution.

SJR, I like your second idea about the snakes. I also had thought that the snakes represented Harry and Voldy's minds up until HBP. Then I started thinking that I probably had it wrong. It showing the split of Voldemort is a much better answer than I had in mind.

Hi everyone! richard: good luck! Will you have access to the internet? I hope so! I can't imagine life without it (yeah, I'm a spoiled brat ;D). I'm assuming the office I'm gonna work for will have internet connection, as I'll get a laptop. There are internet cafes, and perhaps I'll be able to get internet in the apartment that I rented. I'll just have to see. Did anyone hear about the Luna casting? Apparently, thousands of girls lined up for the open audition in London. It's a casting challenge for sure! Hope everyone is doing fine! I thoroughly enjoyed my party yesterday and the one for family today. I hope to bring pics online soon. Richard

I agree that the snakes "in essence divided" does not necessarily refer to Harry/Voldy's minds. SJR, I like you idea that it might be referring to Voldemort's horcruxes or, rather, his soul. However, if you think about it, there are a lot of possibilities that it could be referring to.
I've never thought that Harry is going to outright murder Voldemort. The two possible things that I see happening are 1) (least possible) that there is a loophole and Harry doesn't have to "kill" Voldy to "destory" Voldy, a la Star Wars or 2) there is some power that Harry discovers he has (passed down from his mother's love, perhaps) that he can somehow summon to use to destroy Voldy.
Or... perhaps once Harry destroys all Horcruxes (it does seem like a lot for one book, doesn't it?!) Voldy will be so weak that it won't be too difficult for Harry to finish him off.
I just had a flashback to my first year here in college, posting on this board on wintery Sunday mornings like today, with all of you. I can not believe we've stuck together this long and I do indeed feel priveleged to have been a part of the HP madness (the years upon years of speculation about what will happen next) that not everyone (future readers) will be able to enjoy. In a very weird (geeky) way, I feel as though this HP experience has been a part of my college experience in a tiny but memorable way (I'll always remember my #1 procrastination activity: Harry Potter!). by the way, does anyone know what's happened to a few people we've lost over the years: Marc, Katie (Ginny), or the australian guy (forgot the name he used to post under!)
gaaah... day going too quickly... talk about procrastination! must go!

Good luck Richard - and send us a postcard and a one way ticket please!
Going to start a reread of HBP- think I need to - beginning to forget a few things!
Would love DD to still be alive - but then Harry has got his portrait - think that will be crucial for bk 7

Hedwig gave me an idea. I hardly ever get any mail this time of year (other than bills ), so I'm wondering if anyone wants to exchange postcards with me. I'll send you a postcard from Montreal if you will send me one in return! (I might just include a HP Valentine, too. ) PM (private message - a function on this board) or email (mllellea@hotmail.com) me your snail mail addy and I'll have one in the mail soon! It might be kind of cool to do this; I'd love a collection of postcards from where all of the Mugwumps are located! edited to add that to PM, just click on the little paper and envelope icon located underneath my avatar (and under the MSN/AOL icons).

Hi everyone!
I'm leaving this Saturday (only 5 days remaining) and am absolutely excited, though I still don't have a clue what I'm going to do until I'm on the plane. I think of it as going on holiday for 6 months, which is totally unrealistic as I have to work (a bit) there too. ;D Accepting this internship was like the most challenging and adventurous things I have ever done and will probably ever do in my life. I just hope it will be great, but when I think about the weather there (28 degrees Celsius) compared to here (0 degrees Celsius), I know it's gonna be great!
Anyway, about the postcards. I was planning on mailing everyone for their address, especially after the Christmas card I got from Tonks (which I never expected). So, PM your address please, and you'll get a wonderful postcard from tropical Sint Maarten!!!!!
Hope everyone is doing fine. Unfortunately, I still have a big test Wednesday, so I have to do (at least) some studying. Take care everyone!
Richard

I don't think the gleam of triumph means that DD thought Voldemort could be killed. Dumbledore, by this time, suspected the existence of the horcruxes and therefore knew that the horcruxes had to be destroyed in order to kill Voldemort.
My suspicion is that Harry's blood will play some part in how Harry kills Voldemort. I think Harry's blood will act as a virus inside Voldemort, perhaps to be set off in their next magical battle.

Hi peeps! About the scar. I've just read HP5 for the 17th time. (Reading all the books backwards 6-5.) DD says that Harry's scar is the connection btw his and Voldy's minds or somethin like that. GTG! My show is on.

Hiya MUGWUMPS. Hope you all had a lovely long weekend. I saw GoF 3 times, so I am happy. ;D Richard, best of luck to you. Bold moves are always good moves, I think. Bng, what a great idea about Harry's blood. I notice that they really stress the fact that Voldy has Harry's blood in him, in GoF (film.) I also noticed that they stressed Harry's dreams. I thought it was interesting that they have Dumbledore telling him to disregard them, and Sirius assuring him that they are just...dreams (while looking ever so unconvincing!)as if setting up for OOTP. Speaking of OOTP, I am wondering what they will leave out--they cut so much from GoF that it is truly scandalous! How do you figure they will explain Rita Skeeter' s obligation to Hermione, or will they just write her out altogether?

How do you figure they will explain Rita Skeeter' s obligation to Hermione, or will they just write her out altogether? I think Rita will be cut. Miranda Richardson has said she will not come back for the fifth movie. They can easily solve this by having Luna´s Dad do the interview or something. In the book, only the aftermath of the interview is important. The interview itself isn´t even described (only the conversation before the interview between Harry, Hermione, Luna and Rita). My studying for tomorrow´s OAT (OverAll Test) is actually going somewhere today. Almost the entire kitchen table is filled with books, papers and school stuff. ;D Hope everyone is fine! Richard

Richard... congrats on making the Order!... and good luck in Sint Maartan. I'll be visiting there next January on a cruise. Let me know if there is anything special I need to see on my 8 hour stop.
Skeeter can be cut in OotP. That plot line is not really important on who does the interview, only that it is published. You can still publish it in the Quibbler and say it was by Skeeter.

They might cut out dobby and the elf hats that he gets. It isn't important except when he tells Harry about the RoR. They might have Hermione tell him or Fred and George.

Fins, I will. So, I'm not the only one who goes to St. M's for real... I've been posting too much lately, that's why I'm now an Order member. ;D Richard
