Finished HBP, seems like I find the end harder every time I read it, don't know why. Quoting Hedwig: 'Dumbledore rules forever!'Off-topic: Elle, Holland (Michigan) was on Dutch television this morning, in a program called 'Other times' (history show). Apparently, years ago, the former Queen and her husband visited it. Interesting to see! Hope everyone is fine! Richard

Hi everyone! Reading your posts cheered me up. I don't even remember posting last night, probably because it was only a few hours before I came down with the very nasty stomach flu bug. It's been about 12 hours since that happened, so mercifully I am now at the end stage of the whole ordeal. I've never actually had the stomach flu so it was a bit scary. Luckily my great mom stayed home all day to call and check up on me and play long-distance doctor. now i don't feel quite well eough to get up, but thankfully I can lay down with my laptop... *sigh*... I love my laptop. anyways, I just want to say.... WHOA... I'm scared of the trivia thread! LOL! I am a complete muggle compared to the rest of you. I don't even know where to begin to answer ANY of the questions you all have posted, I'm afraid! cissa's mom - please join in on the discussion! and any other lurkers as well. we had roughly 30-40 people signed up on the other board, so we may have had quite a few lurkers even on there. Maybe a few will come over here and join in! I was trying to think of an acronym around dan's hairy legs for sub-group of squeal. still working on that. by the way, richard, since you practically squealed over emma you're officially in squeal now. i think through the years, everyone has been officially inducted into the group. congrats to us all! LOL.

OH! RICHARD! They taped that show when I was an intern at the Holland museum this past summer!!!! I saw them taping it and almost wrote an article for the paper about it but someone else at the paper beat me to it. In fact, I meant to ask you to look for it but forgot. Is there any chance you could tape it if they re-run it? I'd pay for the cost of the tape and postage if it's reasonable.

Evening all - its great that everyone is mowseeing over to here.
Cissa's mon - hello and please post!!
Absolutely hectic day today. Family friend Ged (I was his flowergril all those moons ago) has moved back here to Northern Ireland and wants to develop his passion for horses - this is currently feeding the 4 horses in the field beside his house with carrots!! He now wants to build stables and learn to ride. So of course I took him up to see John's stables today and now Ged is in the virge of leaving his wife for Scratch!!! (Yep the horse!!) He fell completely for her! I have always been biased as far as Scratch is concerned but he now has 3 photos of her on his phone! And him and John - best of friends! Exchanged phone numbers and Ged is also been asking about coming to the points too! ANOTHER VICTIM!!!
Rave - absolute stinker of a question on the trivia! Hats off to ya!
Richard - DD WILL ALWAYS RULE FOREVER!!! (Cry)
Will be around for the next few hours - Lemon aint too well - she got smitted with that horrible thing I had last week and is currently zzzzzzzz!

Hi all,
I'm here. We went travelling during the holidays. Turkey and Germany, touring and shopping (lots of shopping). We're now all so thouroughly jet lagged that bed time is around 6pm...
Anyhow, I'll check in now and then to see what's new in MUGWUMP discussions.

Hi everyone! It would be cool if we got even more posters here. I never knew there were so many members at the other board. I'll try to get some people whom I know are into Harry over here. It would be fun to grow as a community. Oh, and do we still have the chatroom, cause Sapphie and Raven need to interrogate all newbies. Never quite forgot mine: that horrible night in that chatroom... OH! Elle, it was the rerun I saw, but I'll try to look on the website of the program for more info. Will let you know! Hope everyone is fine. I have to get back to school tomorrow, after a Christmas Break that was fairly unproductive. Not looking forward to that... Richard PS By the way, I'm the first Head Boy (with 15 posts)! Free butterbeer to everyone!

Good morning Mugwumps!
Thanks for the link to the Noble collection. They do have some fantastic stuff there.
I posted the link to this site on my other thread at WB, so we may hopefully get a few more good posters.
I saw the new Woody Allen movie last night, Match Point. I liked some of it a lot and the actors were great, but the movie as a whole was not a success. Too much like Crimes and Misdemeanors set in London. I'd like to see HP one more time before it leaves the theaters, but I don't think I'll be able to get anyone to go with me.
raven: congrats on the honors. And 21 credits definitely puts you in the Hermione Granger Honor Society. With those courses, I expect you to have a full psychological profile of Mr. Severus Snape. We shall then compare your results with Pauli's and come up with a comprehensive understanding of Mr. Evil (oops, I guess that's reserved for LV. Mr. Evil, Jr., I should say).
hedwig: I think you need to post pics of this marvelous horse.
well, I should go. I have some work to catch up on. this year looks like it's going to be busier than last, and that is saying something.

Hi everyone! I'm finally feeling better, just in time to go back to class tomorrow. LOL. welcome back, dkreader! Richard... thanks for the link! it gives me something to do this afternoon. plus, I can brush up on my Dutch. Maybe I'll learn some new words to expand my Dutch vocabulary, which is, at the moment, rather limited. congrats, rave, on all of your academic honours! good luck keeping up with all of that work! Tonks, I didn't know that sapphire was a 28-year-old girl living in the UK! Wow! LOL (ok maybe that's not funny). By the way, what is everyone's grand total of GoF viewings? I asked this a few weeks ago, but I think I've seen sapph and healer post that they've gone to see it again since then. I still haven't seen it any more than 2 times (the 1st and 2nd day of its release). At this point, I'll be waiting for the DVD. By the way, tonks, did you ever get to the IMAX in Chicago to see it?

my total viewings so far would have to be 2 regular theatrical, 1 IMAX, and 1 not so theatrical ;D.
amanda, the IMAX showing was amazing! wish we could have met up for it, that would have been one spectacular viewing! we'll definitely have to try getting together again.

Completely off topic message for Richard: thanks again for the link to the TV show! I just finished watching it. They showed a lot of the Holland Museum, where I interned last summer. I worked with Joel Lefever, the guy who showed some of the things in the museum and archives. The point they made towards the end of the show about how people in Holland (MI) retained a lot of the traditional/19th-century values brought over from the Netherlands in the 19th century is very true. A lot of people in Holland, particularly older generations, still hold on to those very old-fashioned, conservative, religious values. It was funny when the Dutch interviewer asked some older Dutch-American guys if they ever hear jokes about the Dutch and marijuana and other various debauchery that non Dutch-American Americans like to make about the Dutch and the two Holland guys looked shocked and said absolutely not! It's true that growing up in Holland, we mostly learn the stereotypes about the Dutch having wooden shoes and windmills and conservative values. It wasn't until I moved out of Holland that I heard about the Dutch being potheads and sex maniacs - and once or twice I've been asked if the Dutch in Michigan do that... haha. another funny point that the show made was that a lot of people in Holland (Michigan) have Dutch last names (dykstra, vanderploog, kleinjans, den uyl, etc.) Because of this I grew up knowing how to pronounce my friends' Dutch last names, whereas normally English speakers would have a difficult time pronouncing Dutch words. This later came in handy during my Dutch art classes at university when other students slaughtered names like Van Hoogstraten or Van Rijn but I had no problem pronouncing them. Anyways, thanks again for the heads-up on the show, I enjoyed it!

Hi All! Really not much to say tonight. Except 111 TIMES!!!!!!!!!!! ........ *KA-TOINK!!!!!!!!* Sheeeeeeeeeesh!! That puts my effort of 9 times totally in the shadows... determined to make it to double figures come Voldermort or a herd of galloping Hypogryffs. 12 would be a great round number... and I would consider 15 a magnificent effort for any Potterloonatic without being over the top Wont be in chat tonight as I have an early start tommorow AM.

Hiya Mugwumps old and new! It's wonderful to have new faces, so to speak...I mean...type. Richard, I still check in to the old chat room just in case, but it is rarely used. We mostly im on MSN. I feel somewhat guilty that you are scarred for life by our grill session. Not...too guilty...I mean, you lived--right? ;D A few scars make for interesting conversation. Who wants to be next? I saw GoF again today, but I forget how many that makes--is it 14 or 15? Anyway, every time I see it I love it more, so it won't be the last for me. I just hope it comes to the dollar theatre before my savings are gone. Elle--roflmao! I wish I was a 28 year old woman living in London who had seen GoF 111 times. Another movie gripe: I hate the part where Karkaroff is shown sneaking into the room with the Goblet of Fire, makes that stupid sneaky face and closes the door. That might have worked 50 years ago. It just looks idiotic now. That said, I LOVE this movie! When Harry is lying there sighing over Cho's refusal, it's just too sweet, funny and a bit painful. I think one of the reasons this movie is so good is the way it captures all that horrible teen angst, awkwardness and insecurity that every one of us went through to some degree. Aren't you glad we are past all that?
